Monrovia – On Thursday, December 12, the Liberia Medical and Dental Council (LMDC) received a Land Cruiser jeep generously donated by Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) France. The donation followed a compassionate appeal made by LMDC’s Medical Director, Joseph Colmah, and the Registrar General, Dr. Augustus Garlet Quiah, during a visit by the MSF Country Director in the second quarter of 2024.
This donation comes amidst increasing calls for support to strengthen LMDC’s logistical capabilities. It is expected to enhance the council’s ability to provide effective clinical services and supervision, addressing long-standing challenges in its operations. The gesture aligns with LMDC’s ongoing efforts to improve healthcare delivery across Liberia, particularly in underserved areas.
During the handover, the Medical Director for Clinical and Research, Joseph Colmah, expressed profound gratitude to MSF France for responding to LMDC’s appeal.
He stated that the donation is more than just a vehicle; it is a lifeline for LMDC’s clinical operations. The Land Cruiser will enhance our inspection and monitoring capacity, enabling us to better serve communities and fulfill our mandate.
For his part, Dr. Augustus Garlet Quiah, Registrar General also conveyed his appreciation, describing the donation as both timely and generous. As he called for support from other partners to help ensure quality healthcare delivery services across the country.
He expressed that donation underscores the value of collaboration in strengthening our healthcare system. It marks a significant milestone in the institution’s mission to provide effective medical regulation and healthcare services across the nation.
“We are committed to maximizing the use of this vehicle to improve healthcare supervision and delivery in Liberia,” Dr. Quiah assured.
