Monrovia – The Liberia Medical and Dental Council (LMDC), in collaboration with the Ministry of Justice (MOJ_LNP_LDEA), has shut down The Grace of God Medical Clinic on 9th Street, Sinkor, citing failure to meet basic medical standards and posing a risk to public health.
During the closure operation, the joint team conducted a community outreach, informing bystanders of the dangers posed by unqualified medical practitioners. They also urged community members to report any suspicious or substandard medical practices in their vicinity.
John Bass Golokeh, Deputy Director for Public Safety at the Ministry of Justice, expressed deep disappointment with the facility’s conditions. “The room they are referring to as an operating room is not fit for any form of medical treatment. Even I would not make the mistake of seeking treatment here, nor would I use the bathroom,” he remarked.
The inspection revealed alarming deficiencies in medical care. A patient in labor was found unattended, with no midwife on duty. Given the poor standards of service, Joseph Colmah, Director of Medical and Research at the Clinical Department, immediately facilitated the transfer of the patient to the JFK Maternity Center. Another patient was also rushed to the JFK Memorial Hospital for emergency treatment.
Following these distressing findings, the LMDC and MOJ issued an immediate closure order for The Grace of God Medical Clinic, reinforcing their commitment to ensuring the safety and well-being of the public by holding medical facilities accountable to established health regulations.
Authorities continue to urge the public to remain vigilant and report any illegal or unsafe medical practices to help safeguard the health of Liberians.
