On Tuesday, March 28, 2023, health professionals gathered at the Corina Hotel to validate drafted guidelines for continuing professional development for all health professionals in Liberia, led by the Ministry of Health.
The guidelines were developed through support and partnership with the World Health Organization (WHO), USAID, the KOICA project, the University of Liberia (Bridge-U Project), and jointly by the Ministry of Health, the Liberia Medical and Dental Council (LMDC), the Liberia Nursing and Midwifery Board (LNMB), the Liberia Pharmacy Board (LPB), the Liberia National Physician Assistants Association (LNPAA), the Liberia Association of Medical Laboratory Technology (LAMLT), and other medical and health organizations.
In efforts to tackle emerging difficulties in Liberia’s health care, the validated CPD seeks to boost continuous learning and the competency of the health workforce while enabling safety and high-quality service for patients and the general public.
The official launch of the Guidelines for Continuing Professional Development (CPD) for Health Professionals in Liberia will be on April 6, 2023, at the University of Liberia campus.
The Chairperson of the Liberia Medical and Dental Council (LMDC), Dr. Benetta Collins Andrews, was in attendance at the stakeholder validation of the Guidelines for Continuing Professional Development (CPD) for health professionals in Liberia.
On behalf of LMDC, she extended thanks and appreciation to partners for their support by making it possible to have comprehensive guidelines covering all health professionals and now making CPD/CME credits a major prerequisite for licensure for all health professionals, with not just the LMDC and a few others requiring it.
