Global Pharmaceutical Manufacturing and Laboratories Ltd., Liberia’s first pharmaceutical manufacturing company, gets LMDC operational permission after being approved by the Liberia Medicines and Health Products Regulatory Authority (LMHRA). The company has been duly licensed, following rigorous scientific processes to ensure standards of internationally accepted best practices. Preliminary analytical testing of the first batch of medicines produced at the LMHRA quality control lab was conducted and further validated by confirmatory testing in Ghana at the United States Pharmacopeia lab.
As part of the Liberia Medical and Dental Council (LMDC) mandate to ensure quality health services are provided across the country, a team headed by the Chairperson Dr. Benetta Collins Andrews on Friday, March 17, 2023 inspected the site of Global Pharmaceutical Manufacturing and Laboratories Ltd. in Caldwell, outside Monrovia.
Other inspection team members were the Co-chair, Mr. Theophilus Fayiah and Mr. Joseph Colmah, head of the clinical department of the Liberia Medical and Dental Council. The company is expected to launch on Tuesday, March 21, 2023, officially.
The Chairperson cautioned the management of Global Pharmaceutical Manufacturing and Laboratories Ltd. to maintain professional standards as required by the LMDC. She stressed that the council will periodically conduct monitoring visits to the company with other stakeholders to ensure that high standards remain in place at all times.
