Dr. Quiah Joins ECOWAS Health Leaders in Togo to Harmonize Training Curricula
On Monday, July 15, 2024, Dr. Augustus G. Quiah, Registrar General of the Liberia Medical and Dental Council, along with other prominent health regulators, joined their ECOWAS counterparts in Lome, Togo, for the ECOWAS-West African Health Organization (WAHO) Technical Session. The event, which runs from July 15 to 20, 2024, brings together key figures in health education and regulation across West Africa.
Others representing Liberia are Mrs. Cecelia K. Kpangbala Flomo of the Liberia Nursing and Midwifery Board, Dr. John K. Mulbah, President of the College of Physicians and Surgeons (LCPS), Dr. Edward Lama Wonkeryor, Executive Director of the National Commission on Higher Education (NCHE), Dr. Dunah P. Z. Menmon, Registrar of the Liberia Pharmacy Board (LPB) and Mr. George Jordu Woryonwon of the Liberia Association of Environmental Health Professionals
The Technical Session aims to align the contents of the 54 Harmonized Basic and Specialist Training Curricula across the three official languages of ECOWAS member states. This alignment effort is a continuation of previous workshops dedicated to developing standardized training curricula for all health disciplines. It forms a critical part of ECOWAS’s broader strategy to develop, motivate, and retain human resources for health in the region.
Dr. Quiah and his colleagues’ participation underscores Liberia’s commitment to enhancing healthcare standards and ensuring consistent, high-quality training for health professionals throughout West Africa.
