MedAir Africa Donates Technical Equipment to Liberia Medical and Dental Council to Enhance Operations
On Wednesday, August 21, 2024, the Liberia Medical and Dental Council (LMDC) received a significant donation from MedAir Africa aimed at enhancing and easing the council’s operations, particularly in the production of licensure materials. The donation, led by Boimah Moore of MedAir Africa, includes Frago DTC 1250 printer, complete with software, cards, ribbons, and other essential accessories.
During the presentation, Mr. Moore highlighted the long-standing partnership between MedAir Africa and the LMDC, which spans nearly a decade. He acknowledged the challenges that the LMDC has faced in recent years, particularly in the production of licensure materials, and expressed MedAir Africa’s commitment to supporting the council in overcoming these challenges. The donation, he explained, was a gesture of gratitude for the LMDC’s continued collaboration with MedAir Africa.
Dr. Benetta Collins Andrews, the Chairperson of the Liberia Medical and Dental Council, gratefully received the donation on behalf of the council. He expressed profound appreciation for MedAir Africa’s generosity, noting that the new equipment could not have come at a better time. “Considering the technical issues we have faced in managing to continue production, we are so glad that MedAir could think of us with a brand new printer to aid our licensure production,” Dr. Andrews remarked.
MedAir Africa, known for its commitment to providing medical care in post-conflict and developing regions across Africa, has been operating in Monrovia, Liberia, since 2013. The organization has established itself as a key player in the medical field by forming alliances with international insurers and assistance companies, and by providing medical, aviation, and logistical services to governments, NGOs, and mining entities across Africa. MedAir Africa’s Express Clinic and In-Patient Care Centre, located at James Spriggs Payne Airport, was established in response to the international investment community’s demand for higher standards of medical care in Monrovia.
In addition to its operations in Liberia, MedAir Africa has expanded its reach by relocating its 24-hour assistance center to Johannesburg, South Africa. From this location, the organization coordinates and dispatches medical evacuation aircraft and crews, provides commercial medical assistance, and offers logistical support across the continent.
This donation marks another milestone in the ongoing collaboration between MedAir Africa and the LMDC, further solidifying their partnership in enhancing healthcare delivery in Liberia.
